Summary

THE RECORD-BREAKING NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER FROM THE UK'S BESTSELLING NON-FICTION AUTHOR。

Discover all the weird and wonderful things that go on inside your body with Dr Adam Kay。 Covers key stage 2 / 3 human biology syllabus (in a slightly repulsive way)。

'Hilarious and fascinating! I wish Adam had been my biology teacher' - Konnie Huq

Do you ever think about your body and how it all works? Like really properly think about it? The human body is extraordinary and fascinating and, well 。 。 。 pretty weird。 Yours is weird, mine is weird, your maths teacher's is even weirder。

This book is going to tell you what's actually going on in there, and answer the really important questions, like:

Are bogeys safe to eat? Look, if your nose is going to all that effort of creating a snack, the least we can do is check out its nutritional value。 (Yes, they're safe。 Chew away!)

And how much of your life will you spend on the toilet? About a year - so bring a good book。 (I recommend this one。)

So sit back, relax, put on some rubber gloves, and let a doctor take you on a poo (and puke) filled tour of your insides。 Welcome to Kay's Anatomy*。

*a fancy word for your body。 See, you're learning already。

'The sort of book I would have loved as a child' - Malorie Blackman

'Like listening to a teacher who makes pupils fall about' - The Times

'Absolutely packed with facts。。。 Entertaining and highly informative' - Daily Mail

'As brilliant, and revolting, as the human body it celebrates' - The i newspaper

'Totally brilliant!' - Jacqueline Wilson

'If only this funny and informative book had been around when I was too embarrassed to teach my kids about bodily functions' - David Baddiel

Loved it。 Adam Kay has done it again。 I would usually get bored easily reading this type of non-fiction book but Adam succeeded in teaching me lots about anatomy while bringing in humour at every corner。 I initially thought that I would know a good bit of the facts already as the book is for children but I was proved to be wrong。 The art, the descriptions, the facts, everything was just amazing。 Highly recommend。

I bought this book for my Year 6 class after we watched Adam Kay at the virtual Hay on Wye Literature Festival。Adam was an absolute joy to watch with my class- he had us howling with laughter so after the session, my class were begging me for the book! This turned out to be a wonderful read for myself and for my seven-year-old。 Here is what I really loved about this book:1。 This book is very engaging because of its humor and illustrations。 There is no way anyone can leave this book without finishing it。2。 My child learned so much from this book that he ended up creating diagrams and showing them to his friends。3。 We both learned so many things about maintaining good health。4。 Skin。 Brain, Germs, Reproductions were favorite chapters of my seven This turned out to be a wonderful read for myself and for my seven-year-old。 Here is what I really loved about this book:1。 This book is very engaging because of its humor and illustrations。 There is no way anyone can leave this book without finishing it。2。 My child learned so much from this book that he ended up creating diagrams and showing them to his friends。3。 We both learned so many things about maintaining good health。4。 Skin。 Brain, Germs, Reproductions were favorite chapters of my seven-year-old。 The book is up to date it even talks about coronavirus。 。。。more

Read to me over several car trips by my 11 year old who I secretly hope ends up being a doctor。 This book is funny, clever and well written for its target audience while never really dumbing it down。 Grays Anatomy with fart jokes。

An hilarious book full of fun ways of teaching people more about the body。 Makes learning about the body fun and interesting。

I really enjoyed this book even though I'm a teenager and it's aimed at a middle grade audience。 This book was purchased for my younger siblings who also have been really enjoying reading it。 Adam Kay is such a funny author, and his humour is funny to people of all ages。 Although I knew about the body's systems already as I study biology, I found it a good way to revise and Adam Kay makes topics that are often boring more exciting。 There were lots of really interesting fun facts in this book lik I really enjoyed this book even though I'm a teenager and it's aimed at a middle grade audience。 This book was purchased for my younger siblings who also have been really enjoying reading it。 Adam Kay is such a funny author, and his humour is funny to people of all ages。 Although I knew about the body's systems already as I study biology, I found it a good way to revise and Adam Kay makes topics that are often boring more exciting。 There were lots of really interesting fun facts in this book like that cows have over 800 different blood types。 This book explained some very sensitive topics like death, cancer and reproduction really well in a way that kids could easily understand。 It also covered topics that were never in childrens book when I was younger, like transgender people and IVF, and again these topics were explained in a way the children can easily understand。 I'd really recommend this book to anyone interested in the human body as I think its interesting and that people of all ages would enjoy this book。 This book does explain puberty and reproduction so it maybe isn't suitable for really young kids。 。。。more

Got it as b-day present for a 9 year old but read it first - funny and well written, not talking down to kids and making our bodies, their differences (and even the disgusting parts) normal。

First few chapters were really good to read for new knowledge。 The last few were more funny rather than educational but it was still funny so no complaints!

This was a really fun and easy to read book about the body aimed at children。Despite being aimed at a younger audience I really enjoyed this book。 It's full of jokes and light humour to make the book interesting and accessible to young children。It's full of diagrams and doodles which are funny and make the medical jargon easy to understand。 I wish I had this book when I was a child because it would have made learning science much easier。I loved the fact this book was inclusive。 It talked about b This was a really fun and easy to read book about the body aimed at children。Despite being aimed at a younger audience I really enjoyed this book。 It's full of jokes and light humour to make the book interesting and accessible to young children。It's full of diagrams and doodles which are funny and make the medical jargon easy to understand。 I wish I had this book when I was a child because it would have made learning science much easier。I loved the fact this book was inclusive。 It talked about being trans, IVF and lots of medical conditions people will have in a simple way so children understand them and not make fun of their friends who are different。 If I had kids, I would definitely make sure they read this when they are 7-11 years old。Highly recommend! 。。。more

Phenomenal!Funny, witty and informative book for children (and adults) to learn about the body。 Recommend reading it with your child so you can discuss some of the more embarrassing aspects together and have a good chat about it all。

Eliza

Bloody horrible。 I don't find it humorous and doesn't easily explain anatomy to the age group that it is directed towards。 I wish I could give it 0 stars。 Bloody horrible。 I don't find it humorous and doesn't easily explain anatomy to the age group that it is directed towards。 I wish I could give it 0 stars。 。。。more

So funny

Although this book is aimed at children I found it so educational and learnt a lot from it。 It was funny, covered serious issues in a digestible and humerus way, and I wish it had been around when I was at school! Highly recommend for all ages。

Very good book about the body, lots of detail loads of incredible facts! I gave it four stars because there were some bad jokes but most of them were good。 If you’re a child, you can (if you want to) read this book as it’s totally worth your time, if you’re an adult, I don’t know, you could also read this book if you want to, there may be a fact or two that you don’t know。 Thanks for reading my review, goodbye!

Hilarious。 Loved this book。 Not just for children and teens。 It’s for adults to

So funny and well done。 Anyone with children should read this with their kids- I think I laughed and learned as much as my 8 year old did。

It is very informative and also very funny。

The format of the book and the number of words unfortunately don't match with the humour of the book。 I feel the amount of jokes and silly things alongside the very informative subject matter are aimed at a younger audience than what would be able to read this book by themselves。 The format of the book and the number of words unfortunately don't match with the humour of the book。 I feel the amount of jokes and silly things alongside the very informative subject matter are aimed at a younger audience than what would be able to read this book by themselves。 。。。more

A book designed for children but has a good way of explaining things so you could use it or pass it on to them to answer their own stuff。 I suppose the equivle t adult version is Bill Brysons the body, but thats a weightier tome。 Enjoyed it, not being sure at first why I picked it up, but hey, rainy day。

Not just for kids! I wanted a light hearted easy read & after reading snippets to my kids, I stole it for myself as I am a huge Adam Kay fan。 So funny and great to read

Janine

Bought this on the pretence that it was for my 9 year old, but really I wanted to read it myself after loving the author’s previous two books。 I can’t praise it enough, it had me laughing out loud every night in bed。 I did learn quite a lot from it too, which is probably shameful for someone approaching their 50th year of existence。 It made some complex topics very easy to understand and so much fun。 Please write something else, I’m having withdrawal symptoms already!

Loved loved loved this book。 Adam Kay is such a character and his writing is so funny。 He seems like the kind of chap I'd love to go for a drink with。 The book was informative and even though its for children I learned so much more than I ever did at school from this book。 It almost made me feel smart 🤓 The illustrations were also very good and made me chuckle。 100% recmmend this easy and charming read to all ages 💜 Loved loved loved this book。 Adam Kay is such a character and his writing is so funny。 He seems like the kind of chap I'd love to go for a drink with。 The book was informative and even though its for children I learned so much more than I ever did at school from this book。 It almost made me feel smart 🤓 The illustrations were also very good and made me chuckle。 100% recmmend this easy and charming read to all ages 💜 。。。more
